We work to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)statutory framework. This sets standards to ensure children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children are ready for school and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.

Every child’s experience in our newly developed EYFS setting will be a valuable one. We aim to inspire a love of learning and an interest in the world that will provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.

At Court Farm Primary School, we provide a nurturing environment for happy children, where everyone feels safe, respected and cared for. Our key principles are to provide an exciting and enabling environment, to support the development of each individual personality, to cherish friendships and to cultivate creativity and initiative through play and active learning

Phonics

We believe that all our children can become fluent readers and writers. This is why we teach reading through Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised, which is a systematic and synthetic phonics programme. Our children start phonics in Nursery and this develops as they enter Reception, click to find out more Little Wandle Parent Support and Early Reading.

Maths

EYFS and KS1 will continue working on the Mastering Number programme this academic year. Children will explore the relationships between numbers and patterns to help build their confidence with number. The short sessions are engaging and often use clips from the popular show NumberblocksThe videos can be accessed through YouTube and are a fun and useful tool to support learning in maths at home.

Learning is fun with Learning Blocks | Alphablocks | Numberblocks | Colourblocks | CBeebies shows

Curriculum Maestro

We use Curriculum Maestro as well as celebrations and awareness days to deliver our other areas of learning. Our lessons are fun and creative and allow us to explore through a range of difference themes and topics. Please refer to our EYFS Long Term Overview 2022-2023.pdf to find out our topics for this academic year.

Home Learning

We encourage home learning in EYFS. This can range from reading a book for pleasure or their phonics books, being read to, completing activities based on a theme or topic or consolidating their knowledge of sounds, tricky words and numbers. We ask that completed home learning is returned to school every Wednesday and EYFS staff will send new home learning home every Friday.
